Sightseeing Tour Itinerary

We have a budget-friendly "7-8 hours Kathmandu City Day Tour" package for you which covers all the major attractions of Kathmandu within a limited timeframe.

8:30 AM to 9:00 AM – Leave for Swayambhunath

You will be picked up by our bus at your hotel after your early breakfast.  Swyambhunath, widely recognized as the Monkey Temple, is our first destination on the itinerary. Due to the morning's low traffic, the travel takes around 25 minutes.

9:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Visit and explore Swayambhunath

On the western outskirts of the city, a hilltop is home to this historic monument Swayambhunath, which is enlisted in UNESCO heritage sites. This is a Buddhist pilgrimage destination that is considered to be divine in Kathmandu. It is surrounded by a stupa from the Licchavi era and a number of little shrines. In each of the four directions of the stupa, the Buddha's eyes, nose, and brows are painted.

The stupa may be accessed from two different locations. The first is the 365-step stairway on the stupa's eastern edge, while the other is the road system that circles the hill to the stupa's southward. Additionally, both residents and visitors are highly fond of this location. You get a wide-angle perspective of stunning Kathmandu from the summit of this hill. You will roam around Swayambhu, click pictures, engage with the locals, and head to your next destination.

10:00 AM to 10:45 AM – Drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square

You are now traveling to the second destination on your Kathmandu day trip to Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as Basantpur Durbar Square or Hanuman Dhoka. It takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to get here because of heavy traffic.

10:45 AM to 12:00 PM – Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square

This Durbar Square is among the three royal residences of the ancient dynasties and also is a classic illustration of Newari architecture. Nearby this plaza, there are numerous temples. The Kumari temple, where the live goddess resides, is one of them. Another is Kasthamandap, a single-tree-constructed, three-story temple.

This location is now a popular destination for both visitors and residents. A museum documenting the kings and queens' histories is housed in one of the palaces. People assemble in and near this area in the evenings for outings and sightseeing. Round these, there are numerous restaurants and coffee shops where you can taste some of the Nepalese spices cuisine, if you like (not included).

12:00 PM to 12:45 PM – Drive to Pashupatinath Temple

Our third destination of the Kathmandu Day tour is going to be the sacred Pashupatinath Temple. This temple is considered as 4 of the main holy Lord Shiva temples to be worshipped by Hindus and is enlisted in UNESCO heritage sites.

From Basantapur, it might take about 30 to 45 minutes due to the crowded traffic of the capital.

12:45 PM to 1:45 PM – Explore around Pashupatinath

We'll enjoy the holy vibe of Pashupatinath, which is home to some of the world's last surviving religious monuments as well as Nepal's most holy cremation site, beside Bagmati River. The site is constantly filled with Lord Shiva's devotees. Within the temple premises, taking photos or wearing shoes are prohibited.

Four doorways may be found in each direction on either side of the main temple's pagoda-style structure. Additionally, a huge bronze figure of Nandi is positioned ahead of the western entryway. 518 temples and shrines may be found on this site in total. We now go on to the next location after taking a moment to roam about.

1:45 PM to 2:15 PM – Drive to Bouddhanath

The Boudhanath stupa, popularly known as Boudha, is our ultimate destination for the day. It is a sacred site for Tibetans and Buddhist devotees. It might take about 30 minutes to reach here due to busy roads. Upon arrival, we head to one of the many restaurants around for our lunch before exploring the place.

3:00 PM to 4:00 PM – Enjoy your last destination, Bouddhanath‼

We will explore the Boudhanath stupa, which has served as a gigantic mandala of serenity in addition to enormous eyes, serving as a sign of Buddhist peace and devotion for many centuries. Certainly, Boudha has served as Kathmandu's cultural hub since it is a Tibetan Buddhist holy site and a sensitive spot for Buddhists. Within the stupa, you may experience peace and serenity whilst outside the rear entrance, you can access the bustling Phulbari Street and home to a plethora of markets where you can purchase products like thangka paintings and wooden masks as well as a variety of Buddhist adornment and beads.

After 4:00 AM – Drive off to the hotel

Your one-day Kathmandu trip has been brought to an end after such an enjoyable day. From Bouddhanath, you will be making your way back to your hotel. We believe you had an authentic encounter with the culture and customs and also gained some knowledge of Kathmandu's origins.
