Overview

Patan day city tour is noteworthy due to its historical significance in arts & architectures of ancient kingdoms. The locations that this one day tour is going to cover include Bungmati, Khokana, Kritipur and Chandragiri. Many of the grandest temples, palaces, and monuments of ancient Nepali architecture may be explored in the historical empires of Patan.

The city of exquisite arts, Patan, is encircled by four stupas that Emperor Ashoka is credited with building in the third century. You will notice that the Durbar Square is densely populated with temples including the Krishna Temple constructed by King Siddhi Narsingh Malla, the Kumbeshwor Temple, the Golden Temple, the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, and the Mahadev Temple. It is among the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley and is a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO.

The 16th-century twin settlements of Bungmati and Khokana are representative of early Newar communities. The Red Machhendra lord of Patan spends each winter in a potent temple designed in the Shikhara architecture, and Bungmati is well known for being his winter residence. Khokana is a small community with a broad main street, much like Bungmati. The renowned temple Sikali Mai is located in the center of the roadway.

Five kilometers southwest of Patan, on a little hill, stands the historic settlement of Kirtipur. The renowned temple Bagh Bhairav is one among the many historic structures in the area. It was the first location Prithvi Naryan Shah invaded after capturing the Kathmandu Valley.

Chandragiri, which is seven kilometers from Thankot, is located on the south-western edge of the Kathmandu Valley and is known for the Chandragiri Hills, reachable via cable car. The hill is home to the well-known Bhaleswor Mahadev temple and offers picturesque vistas of the Himalayan mountain ranges from Mt. Annapurna to Mt. Everest.
