Residing in the north of the Gorkha district of Nepal, this trek allows you the opportunity to explore the majestic mountains, and green hills that have remained pristine by modern influences for ages that’ll give you vibes as if you’ve come back in time along with the typical Tibetan-influenced traditions of Tsum valley due to the proximity of it to the Tibet.

Often referred to as the “Hidden Valley’’, the Tsum Valley is a revered Buddhist region that remained in solitude till it became accessible for trekking in the year 2008 A.D.

This adventure provides you with numerous beautiful scenarios of mother nature with the major attraction being the grandeur appearance of Mt. Manaslu with its breathtaking elevation of 8,163 meters, with its presence as the world’s eighth highest peak. You'll also get a chance to see other peaks such as Himal Chuli (7,893m)Ngadi Chuli (7,871m), and Ganesh Himal (7,422m). Accommodation on the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek

The trip lasts for 20 days and during all those times you’ll be provided with different kinds of accommodation services. Two nights of hotel stay in Kathmandu in a tourist standard hotel and teahouses during the trip.

Although the accommodations in Kathmandu are luxurious, you cannot expect the same once you start the trek. Especially when you are heading for a less crowded trek like the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit.

Due to a lack of modernization and proper roadways, these teahouses offer the basic facilities that will be enough to provide you a proper sleep and good food to power you up. Electricity, hot water showers, and heaters are very hard to find throughout the trail.

So you need to be prepared to get out of your comfort zone and be mentally prepared.

Electricity and Water Facilities During the Tsum Valley with Manaslu Circuit Trekking

Manaslu region, being untouched and an off-beaten place facilities like electricity and internet are not readily available as other popular trekking regions.

Tsum Valley is even less crowded compared to Manaslu Circuit so you can expect some destinations with no electricity at all. you only have some solar lights to light up the rooms. For charging your electronics, we highly recommend you get a power bank that will be enough to charge your phones and cameras.

During the Manaslu Circuit, the facilities are more prominent compared to Tsum Valley but still, it may be hard to find a proper power source, and charging your equipment will cost extra.

Water and electricity supplies are available throughout the region. But during the trip, it’s advised that foreigners have their personal water bottles or mineral water as their bodies might not have adapted well to the water from the new environment. You also have an option to buy mineral water bottles throughout the trail.

Sometimes with the trial mineral water bottles might not be available right away with the only option for local tap water and to make it suitable for your guts it’s advised you rather have some purification tablets.

Communications During the Trip

During the trip, you’ll get access to internet services here in Kathmandu without any hassle but while on the route or in the teahouse or lodge you might have to bear an extra charge for using the Wifi. With the rising elevation of the trip, the internet gets out of reach leaving only the phone as an option.

Mobile signals might not even be available throughout the trail to have long talks so as you go high up there won't be proper facilities for connectivity and internet.

You can buy a SIM card that costs just $1 from any local communication service operator or mobile phone service center for which you might need to provide 1 pp-sized photo and copy of your passport.

These operators provide you with mobile data which works great in Kathmandu Valley and there may be some issues with the connectivity during the trek.

Passport and Visa

As for the passport and visa, you can get an on-arrival visa in the TIA, and Indian nationals, don’t require any sort of visa but rather a valid identification document to get to Nepal.

As for the nationals required to have a visa, a visa application is required with at least six months of validity, a pp-sized photo, and visa charges. Citizens of SAARC nations will be granted free visas. Since it’s a government-based regulatory work the policy might change even without advanced notice. So, to be updated you can visit the site for visa information, https://www.immigration.gov.np.

Travel Safety Guidelines and Insurance

It's mandatory for all travelers to have travel insurance as situations like natural causes such as landslides, avalanches altitude sickness and many other unforeseen might strike out of the blue.

In case of emergencies, a rescue helicopter will be sent for rescue, which will be covered by your insurance and should be enough to do so.

Extra trip info.

Currencies

($1=135 NPR) approx.

Foreign currencies aren’t directly valid in Nepal in most places, so you need to exchange the currencies at the airport or at any currency exchange centers. There may be some agencies and offices who may directly accept dollars in cash but most of the local shops require Nepali Cash.

You also have an option to pay by card with an additional transaction charge.

Grade, Medical Fitness, and Health

The trip to Tsum Valley and the Manaslu Circuit is a strenuous one. We'll be exploring the pristine portion of the region and getting time to unwind for a while for a day before heading to Larky la Pass to get to the Manaslu circuit. At the beginning of the trip, it’ll be easier as we’ll be starting from lower elevations gradually leading to higher comprised of steep descent, and long climbs on the road which might be physically challenging.

Travelers with past hiking experience will have some advantages due to their adaptability. Travelers with conditions like COPD and respiratory issues are advised and requested to be informed about it in advance.

Excellent three weeks of Trekking
08 Dec 2023

Excellent three weeks of Trekking - Tsum Valley & Manaslu Hiking Bees is very quick to respond & flexible compared to the bigger agencies - Bishow is eager to earn your business & give you a quality experience. I spent three weeks with Risham - he is a very experienced guide who is kind and with a good sense of humor. He goes out of his way to make sure you are safe & taken care of on your trip. Make sure that you meet your guide several days before your trip, if you can, to ensure a good fit. During Desain, guides can be scarce, and I was lucky to get Risham at the last minute.

Tsum Valley & Manaslu Circuit Trek
14 Aug 2023

2 friends and I did a fantastic 20-day trek to Tsum Valley & Manaslu Circuit. Hiking Bees and our guide Prem did an excellent job with the planning and during the trek itself - I fully recommend using Hiking Bees!

Best Tsum Valley & Manaslu Hike

I did a 20 days tour with my girlfriend (Tsum Valley and Manaslu). I was very happy with the planning of the route. The route allowed us to immerse ourselves in the culture and we were able to see very diverse and beautiful landscapes. It was also important to me not to have to share the route with cars and this was very possible here. The hiking Bees therefore put together a route for me that met my expectations. My guide Bohj was very helpful and made sure that my wishes were catered for. He chose teahouses with good food and used his experience to give me recommendations and information about the food and the surroundings.

Wonderful 20 days Manaslu Hike

I recommend doing the hike with the hiking bees! They have planned us a very nice route. Which was very balanced. We had days where we hiked very long and others with fewer hours. This allowed us to relax and have a challenging hike at the same time. Our guide Bhoj was very kind and took very good care of us and our needs. He always chose tea houses with good cuisine and made sure we were satisfied. He made recommendations on what we could try, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the cuisine of Nepal. He was also very flexible about changes to the trek, was very helpful when we had concerns and explained things about the trek we where doing. Our porter Razu was also a very friendly and a nice guy. In summary, it was a wonderful 20 days with Bhoj and Razu. Thank you, to the hiking bees team.
