Jiri to EBC Trek- 24 days

Today, we will embark on a drive from Kathmandu to Shivalaya, located at an elevation of 1770m. The journey will take us through breathtaking landscapes, meandering along hilly terrains adorned with picturesque villages. Whether we choose private transportation or opt for an Express Bus, we can anticipate a scenic and memorable drive. Once we reach Shivalaya, we will settle in for the night, ready to continue our adventure in the days to come.

We will trek from Shivalaya to Kinja, covering a distance of approximately 6-7 hours. The trail initially involves a steep climb, leading us to the scenic Deurali. From there, we will gradually descend for about an hour until we reach Bhandar. The path becomes easier as we continue our downhill trek, eventually arriving at Kinja. This picturesque village, situated at an elevation of 1030m, will be our stop for the night, providing a well-deserved rest after a day of trekking.

On this day, we will trek from Kinja to Lamjura La, located at an altitude of 3530m. The trail starts with a steep climb, passing through the Sherpa settlements of Dagchu and Goyem. As we continue our trek, we will encounter a gradual uphill path that winds its way through enchanting rhododendron forests. Finally, we will reach Lamjura La, where we will spend the night, surrounded by the serene mountain landscape.

We will trek from Lamjura-la to Junbeshi, which is situated at an altitude of 2700m. The trail involves a gentle descent, taking approximately four hours to reach Junbeshi. As we make our way through the forest trail, we may have the opportunity to spot various species of birds, adding to the natural beauty of the surroundings. Junbeshi is a charming traditional village with influences from Tibetan culture, providing a delightful setting for our overnight stay.

Today's trek starts with a gentle ascent towards Phurtung, offering the first glimpses of majestic peaks like Everest, Kantega, and Thamserku, forming a stunning mountain chain. After enjoying the breathtaking views, we continue our journey with an easy descent to Ringmo Khola. From there, the trail takes a steep uphill climb to reach Takshindo La Pass, providing another scenic viewpoint. After taking in the panoramic vistas, we begin a steep descent that leads us to the quaint Sherpa settlement of Nunthala, where we will spend the night, immersing ourselves in the local culture and hospitality.

Our trek for the day begins with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi River, as we pass through charming Rai and Sherpa villages along the way. After crossing the river, we continue our journey with a gentle ascent that takes us to KhariKhola, a picturesque village. Moving forward, we traverse through Juving, a lovely settlement inhabited by the Rai community, known for their unique culture. As we proceed, we encounter a steep climb of approximately 45 minutes to reach Bupsa. At Bupsa, we can explore the remnants of an ancient Buddhist Monastery, adding a touch of history to our trekking experience.

We continue our trek by ascending through hills and traversing a ridge, gradually leaving the valley behind as we head northwards. Along the way, we cross a gorge and continue our ascent until we reach the village of Chaurikharka. This vibrant farming settlement is known for being one of the largest producers in the Khumbu region and serves as a bustling junction for travelers. We will spend the night in a comfortable local hotel, resting and rejuvenating for the adventures that lie ahead.

Our trek for the day is a relatively short one, but it is adorned with various Buddhist structures that embellish the route. As we make our way, we will encounter prayer flags, mani walls, stone tablets, and intricately carved stones, creating a visually striking display amidst the stunning natural landscape. The trail is gentle and easy, guiding us to Jorshalle, where we will spend the night in a cozy teahouse. This peaceful resting place offers a comfortable respite as we prepare for the next leg of our journey.

Today's trail takes us across the Dudh Koshi River multiple times as we traverse suspension bridges, providing thrilling crossings. We pass through enchanting pine and oak forests, immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Along the way, we reach a chorten, which signifies the entrance to Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Tibetan-influenced settlement. From Namche Bazaar, we are treated to breathtaking views of iconic peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, among others. We will spend the night in a comfortable local hotel, reveling in the awe-inspiring mountain panoramas that surround us.

Today is a rest day in Namche Bazaar, the largest settlement in the Khumbu region. We can still embark on a short hike to a nearby viewpoint, either Thame or Khunde, to enjoy stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains. Additionally, we will take the opportunity to explore Namche Bazaar, including a visit to the Tourist Visitor Center. Here, we can gather valuable information about Everest climbers, learn about the Sherpa people and their rich culture, and gain insights into the diverse flora and fauna of the region.

We begin our trek early in the morning, aiming to capture clear and breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges, including Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The trail meanders along a wavy path, surrounded by delightful vegetation and occasional sightings of animals such as musk deer, Himalayan Thar, and pheasants, adding to the enchantment of our journey. After a downhill stretch, we arrive at Kayangjuma and continue until we reach the junction that leads to both Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo Valley. From this point, we start our climb towards Mong La Pass, where the sacred Khumbila Mountain stands as a charming presence. Our trek continues, taking us past several waterfalls and bridges until we finally reach the small and welcoming village of Dole. We will spend the night here.

The trail for this day passes through Lhabarma and Luza, where locals have their summer settlements. Magnificent views of Kantega, Cho Oyu, and Thamserku accompany us. We continue through small villages, enjoying the scenic hillside walk with vistas of the Dudh Koshi valley. After a five-hour trek, we reach Machhermo, a charming village with a stream originating from Kyajo Ri and Phari Lapche. Stories of the first Yeti sightings add intrigue to the atmosphere. We rest for the night, surrounded by the beauty and mystique of Machhermo.

Leaving Machhermo behind, the trail leads us to a Chorten, ascending through a ridge. The panoramic views of Thamserku, Kangtega, Cho-Oyu, and the valleys below are simply breathtaking. As we continue, the valley gradually widens, and we pass another Chorten before reaching Pangka. Descending to the river bank, we embark on a steep climb up the moraine of Ngozamba Glacier. Along the way, we are treated to the mesmerizing beauty of the turquoise lakes, Longpongo and Taboche Tsho. Our journey culminates at Dudh Pokhari, the location of Gokyo village. Nestled against the backdrop of Cho-Oyo, this enchanting village offers both beauty and convenience, serving as our shelter for the night.

The highlight of today's trek is the awe-inspiring view of the Himalayas, with Everest and Cho Oyu taking center stage, as we reach the fifth lake. This vantage point offers a truly unique and unforgettable treat for our eyes. As we continue our journey, we have the opportunity to witness the beauty of Cho Oyu Base Camp and marvel at the majestic Ngazumpa Glacier that graces our path. The combination of breathtaking mountain vistas and the pristine natural landscape creates a truly magical experience.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we embark on today's adventure, beginning with a trek through the Ngazumpa Glacier. The trail leads us along a ridge, offering stunning views of the glacier and the surrounding mountainous landscape. As we continue, we transition to the other side of the mountain, where we make our way towards Thaknak. This portion of the hike serves as preparation for the challenging altitude gain that awaits us in the days ahead. The scenic and invigorating journey sets the stage for the exciting adventures that lie ahead on our trek.

Today, we begin our day's trek early in the morning as we set our sights on crossing the renowned Cho-La pass. The ascent to the pass is steep, and caution is required, especially if there is snow on the trail. Despite the potential challenges, the effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views from the top of the pass. Taking in the stunning vistas, we then begin our descent towards Zongla, where we will spend the night in a cozy local hotel. This adventurous day filled with natural wonders and exhilarating moments is sure to leave a lasting impression on our journey.

As we continue our trek, the trail winds along a glacial moraine, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Pumori and Kalapathar peaks. The backdrop of these towering mountains creates a truly awe-inspiring atmosphere. Moving forward, we encounter a rocky ascent that treats us to stunning vistas of Everest Base Camp, glaciers, and the surrounding mountains. The challenging yet rewarding journey leads us to our destination for the day, Gorakshep. Here, we will find comfort and rest in a cozy local hotel, surrounded by the untamed beauty of the Himalayas. It's a day filled with remarkable sights and a sense of accomplishment.

Today, we kick-start our day with an early morning departure as we set our sights on reaching the renowned Everest Base Camp. The trail takes us through a mesmerizing landscape of icy cone formations and crevasses along the Khumbu Glacier. With each step, we make progress towards our destination, navigating the challenging terrain with determination. After several hours of trekking, we finally arrive at the iconic Everest Base Camp, a place where mountaineering dreams come to life. Here, we take the time to soak in the incredible atmosphere and savor the achievement of reaching this significant milestone. After immersing ourselves in the ambiance of Base Camp, we make our way back to Gorakshep.

An early morning start rewards us with a mesmerizing glimpse of Mount Everest at sunrise. The ascent to Kalapththar unveils panoramic vistas of the majestic Himalayas. Pausing to catch our breath and capture photos, we savor the remarkable views. From the summit, we are treated to a 360-degree panorama of snow-capped peaks. Descending to Periche, we reflect on the awe-inspiring journey we've undertaken. It's a day filled with unforgettable moments and a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature.

Descending along the picturesque Imja River, we make our way towards Tengboche, where a stunning panorama of majestic mountain ranges awaits. After soaking in the breathtaking views, we continue our descent to Pungi Thanka and further down to Kyangjuma. The trail gradually eases, providing us with a more relaxed and enjoyable trek towards Namche. We settle in for the night at a local hotel, relishing the comfort and reflecting on the incredible experiences of our journey.

As we near the end of our trek, we descend along a challenging and rocky trail, requiring careful and balanced steps. Crossing a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, we traverse expansive plains and enchanting rhododendron forests, taking in captivating views of snow-covered peaks in the distance. Finally, we reach the vibrant town of Lukla, where our journey comes to a satisfying conclusion. It's a moment of fulfillment and reflection on the incredible experiences we've had along the way.

We board a thrilling mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, savoring the magnificent vistas of the Himalayan region. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, we have the chance to explore the city, indulge in shopping for souvenirs, and immerse ourselves in its vibrant atmosphere. In the evening, we come together to celebrate the successful completion of our extraordinary Everest Base Camp trek via Jiri, cherishing the remarkable experiences and accomplishments of our journey.

This is the day of farewell, when you complete the journey and leave for your home. Three hours prior to your boarding time, our staff will receive you from your hotel and drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport. We really enjoyed hosting you.
