Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri also commonly known as Jiri to EBC Trek, is a vintage and adventurous trail that follows in the footsteps of legendary mountaineers like Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary. In 1953 this route was used by them for their Everest expedition.
This 24-day excursion takes you to the Everest Base Camp (8848.86m) along with witnessing a less-explored side of the Khumbu Region, and offers ample time to soak in the beauty of the Everest region.
Usually, Lukla airport is known as the gateway for the Everest Base Camp Trek and most people start their trek by flying from Kathmandu to Lukla. However, for adventure enthusiasts, the Jiri to Everest adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jiri. You will take a 7-8 hours jeep ride and witness the natural beauty of the area on the way. You can see various rivers, terrace farms, mountain views, and waterfalls.
From Jiri, you head on a trek through lush forests, charming Sherpa and Tamang villages, and terraced fields that dot the landscape. As you ascend, the trail unveils panoramic vistas of majestic snow-capped peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The trek then takes you to Gorakshep, a remote village situated at the base of Kala Patthar.
