Mardi Himal Trek Route

Your journey commences from Pokhara, following the traditional route of the Annapurna region. The first step is Kande, which serves as the starting point for your trek. From there, your path leads you through Australian Base Camp and Deurali. After a serene walk through the woods, you'll reach the forest camp, enveloped by pine, rhododendron, and juniper forests.

Upon reaching the Mardi Base Camp (4500 m) after acclimatizing at the two high camps, you can relish a delightful meal with both familiar faces and new acquaintances while taking in the breathtaking view of the Mardi Khola valley and the snow-covered southern face of Annapurna.

Permits and Entrance for Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trail, located in the Annapurna region, requires trekkers to obtain two essential permits: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS). The costs for these permits are as follows:

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): For foreigners, the fee is NRP 3000.00 (equivalent to USD 28.00 per person), while SAARC Nationals are charged NRP 1500 (USD 14.00) per person.
  • Group TIMS Card: Foreigners need to pay NRP 1000 (USD 10.00) per person, and SAARC Nationals are charged NRP 600 (USD 6.00) per person.

Day 1 : Kathmandu to Pokhara (Drive)

This is the initial stage of the Mardi Himal Trek where you'll drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara ( By bus ), which is located in western Nepal. The distance between these two cities is about 200 km (124 miles), and the driving time is usually around 6-7 hours. Along the way, you'll pass through scenic routes and beautiful landscapes.

After reaching Pokhara, you'll drive to Dhampus, which is a small village located at an altitude of 1640m (5,380ft). From there, you'll start your trek towards Deurali, which is located at an altitude of 2100m (6,889ft). The trekking distance between Dhampus and Deurali is around 9km (5.5 miles), and it usually takes 3-4 hours to complete.

The total trekking distance for this day is around 10km (6.2 miles), and it usually takes around 7 hours to complete.

After breakfast, you will start your trek towards Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi. The trekking distance for the day is around 4km/2.4 miles, and it will take you around 3-4 hours to complete the trek. You will have a relatively easy trekking day, as you will descend towards the end of the trek. Along the way, you will enjoy some breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and the beautiful Himalayas. Once you reach Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi, you will take a private vehicle to Nayapul, which is the starting point of the trek. The driving distance from Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi to Nayapul is around 30 minutes. From Nayapul, you will take another private vehicle to Pokhara, which is around 1.5 hours away.

On the last day of your Mardi Himal Trek, Afterward an early breakfast, you'll drive back to Kathmandu (via bus).
