Wanting to have a look at Mount Everest but can't hike to the Everest Base Camp? Don't worry Here are some of the best ways to see Mount Everest without trekking. Know about the various ways and find out which one suits the best for you.

Mount Everest, the tallest peak in the world standing at (8,848m/29,032 ft) is the highest point on earth. Seeing Mt. Everest with the naked eye is one of the few things that most people have on their bucket list. Many people hike to the Everest Base Camp every year just to see the mountains in the Everest region. However, not everybody has the same level of physical fitness and there may be some other factors that can stop a person from trekking to the Everest Base Camp.

In this article, we have mentioned a few of the other options by which you can see Mount Everest without trekking to its base camp or taking a challenging hike:

Mountain Flight Tour

One of the most popular and easiest ways to get a close-up view of Mount Everest is by taking a mountain flight. Several airlines in Nepal offer scenic mountain flights that take you close to the Himalayan peaks, including Everest. These flights depart from Kathmandu and provide breathtaking views of the world's highest mountain. These flights are only done early in the morning because weather conditions are stable in the morning.

You will be up in the sky flying around the mountain ranges for nearly an hour. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to take a glance at Mt. Everest without trekking. You can also book your flight ticket from trekking agencies in Nepal, which also include pickup and drop service to and from the airport to your hotel.

Helicopter Tour

Another option is to take a helicopter tour around the Everest Base Camp. If you want to get closer to Mount Everest without trekking, you can take a helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp. This allows you to land at or near the base camp and spend some time taking in the surroundings and views of the mountain.  You can book a helicopter tour in Kathmandu or other major cities in Nepal. These tours offer a more personalized and close-up experience of the Himalayan peaks, including Everest.

Although it’s a little bit on the costlier side, it’s a quicker and more comfortable way to witness the mountain’s grandeur, making it worth the price. You can also find sharing Helicopters as well if you want to save some money.

Viewpoints Near Kathmandu

If you're in Nepal, you can visit various viewpoints near Kathmandu that offer distant views of Mount Everest without having to trek for days. Although these viewpoints are very far from Everest, it’s one of the few cheap ways to watch Everest from near Kathmandu. Nagarkot, Daman, Chandragiri Hill, and Dhulikhel are popular hill stations near Kathmandu that provide panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Everest, on clear days. You can also explore viewpoints in the Everest region, such as the Tengboche Monastery, which provides stunning vistas of the mountain.

Nagarkot

Located just over 30 kilometers from Kathmandu, Nagarkot provides a panoramic view of the Himalayan range, including Everest. The sunrise view from here is particularly famous. You can have a night stay in Nagarkot because it has a lot of quality accommodations and leave for the viewpoint to witness the sunrise view behind the mountains early in the morning.

Daman

Situated a bit farther from Kathmandu, Daman offers an unobstructed view of the entire Himalayan range, making it an excellent spot for viewing Mount Everest.

Chandragiri Hill

Accessible by cable car, Chandragiri Hill provides stunning views of the mountains, including Everest. It's a convenient option for those staying in or near Kathmandu.

Dhulikhel

Known for its cultural richness and stunning landscapes, Dhulikhel offers a distant but captivating view of Mount Everest. Dhulikhel is a beautiful place on its own with a lot of beautiful destinations to visit. The town itself is steeped in Newari culture and you can have an opportunity to delve into it.

Flight to Lukla Airport with a Small Hike

For a taste of the Everest trekking experience without committing to a full-scale expedition, you can consider taking a flight to Lukla Airport. The flight itself is an adventure, with a small aircraft navigating through the mountains to reach one of the world's most challenging airports.

From Lukla, you can have a one or two-day hike, if possible, and by doing so you can have a magnificent view of mighty Everest from Top Danda, which is one hour before the Namche Bazaar and also the first viewpoint to see the Mt. Everest on the EBC Trek route starting from Lukla. If you wish to continue the trekking route it’s up to you, keep in mind that the higher you go you’ll get a better and closer view. You can also find quality luxury accommodation along with tea houses on the route from where you can have a beautiful view of Mount Everest.

Tibetan Side

If you're open to traveling to Tibet, you can get views of Mount Everest from the Tibetan side as well. The Everest Base Camp on the Tibetan side can be reached by vehicle, so you won't need to trek. However, you'll need to obtain the necessary permits to visit Tibet.

Remember that visibility can vary depending on the weather and season, so it's a good idea to plan your visit during the best time for clear views, which is typically in the spring (April and May) or autumn (September and October) when the skies are usually clearer.

Always check the current travel regulations and conditions, as they can change, especially in remote areas like the Everest region.
