It’s no surprise that the Himalayas of Nepal, especially the Everest Region a.k.a Khumbu Region encompasses some of the best vistas in the world.

It is situated in northeastern Nepal of Solukhumbu District featuring a wide range of elevations from 3,300m/ 11,000 ft to 8,848.86m/ 29,032 ft. According to Lonely Planet, Khumbu is considered the 6th best region in the world to travel.

The Everest Base Camp Trek, located in the Mahalangur Himalayan range of the Everest region is one of the most popular treks around the globe.

1. Kala Patthar

The first viewpoint on our list is the Kala Patthar.

Kala Patthar is the ultimate viewpoint in the Everest region that serves an unrealistic, 360° view of the Himalayan ranges.

The literal translation of Kala Patthar is “Black Rock” so it is not high like the mountain itself. However, it is located at a higher elevation at 5,644m (18,519 ft) which allows almost perfect up-close views of Everest along with other magnificent mountains like Nuptse, Changtse, sightings of the northern flank and summit of Lhotse as well.

This is the highest altitude one can reach without a climbing permit. So despite its steepness and high elevation, it is not technically a challenging trek.

Everest View Hotel, located at an altitude of (3,962m/1300ft), is a popular location in the Everest region and is also renowned as the world's highest-altitude hotel.

The Everest View Hotel provides a sense of warmth and luxury while being located in such a challenging location. It is one of the major popular viewpoints as it offers a 360 view of Everest along with other snow-capped peaks.

3. Gokyo Ri

Although Gokyo Ri is slightly farther, trekkers have claimed that the vista from this viewpoint is comparatively better than the view from Kala Patthar. Just remember, despite which viewpoint you are visiting you are sure to be stunned by the Himalayan beauty.  

Since it is a remote destination, the trek to Gokyo Ri is quite challenging but the rewards are definitely worth the risk. This iconic viewpoint sits at an elevation of  5,357m (17,575 ft) providing soul-filling views of snow-capped peaks such as Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), and Cho Oyu (8,201m) including the rare sightings of magical Gokyo lakes and Ngozumpa Glacier which is the longest glacier in the Himalayas.

Similar to Kala Patthar, the highlight of this viewpoint is the sunrise and sunset view from the summit. 4. Tengboche Monastery

Tengboche Monastery is a Tibetan-Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community, located in the Tengboche village of Khumjung in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal.

It sits at an elevation of 3,867 m and is regarded as the spiritual heart of the Everest region. The most important and significant Gompa holds strong religious beliefs for the Sherpa community. It is also the largest Gompa in the region.

5. Nangkartshang Peak/ Nangkar Tshang Peak

Nangkar Tshang Peak is named after the centenary of the old Nangkartshang Monastery, which is located just below Nangkartshang Peak.

The peak rises from the corner of the Dingboche Village, standing at an elevation of 5,083m (16,676 ft). This viewpoint is also known as Dingboche View Point due to the beauty of the Dingboche Valley itself.

The trek to NangkarTshang Peak takes you through steep trails decorated with prayer flags, rugged terrain, and pristine alpine scenery. 6. Renjo La Pass

Renjo La Pass is one of the most outstanding destinations in Solukhumbu district that offers exceptional views of the world’s highest peak. Standing at 5,360 m high altitude, this viewpoint provides vistas of majestic snow-capped peaks like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, glowy blue Gokyo Lakes, and surrounding peaks as well.
