Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri also commonly known as Jiri to EBC Trek is a vintage and adventurous trail that follows in the footsteps of legendary mountaineers like Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary. In 1953 this route was used by them for their Everest expedition.

This 24-day excursion takes you to the Everest Base Camp (8848.86m) along with witnessing a less-explored side of the Khumbu Region and offers ample time to soak in the beauty of the Everest region.

Usually, Lukla airport is known as the gateway for Everest Base Camp Trekking and most people start their trek by flying from Kathmandu to Lukla. However, for adventure enthusiasts people, the Jiri to Everest adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jiri. You will take a 7-8 hours jeep ride and witness the natural beauty of the area on the way. You can see various rivers, terrace farms, mountain views, and waterfalls.

From Jiri, you head on a trek through lush forests, charming Sherpa and Tamang villages, and terraced fields that dot the landscape. As you ascend, the trail unveils panoramic vistas of majestic snow-capped peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Ideal Season for Jiri to EBC Trek

The weather and season are other main things that you need to keep in check before your EBC trek in Nepal.

Generally, The best time for trekking in the Everest region is between (February - May) and (September - October). However, whether in the Himalayas can't be predicted and sometimes may get affected due to various other factors.

Through splitting these seasons further, spring lasts from March to May. These are pleasant hiking months because of the milder weather. During this season, the flowers are in full bloom, and the pathway is lined with petals and leaves.

Autumn, which lasts from September to November, is the second-optimal season. Vibrant clouds and a refreshing atmosphere characterize these months.

The Jiri to EBC Trek is a demanding trek in the Everest region which demands 4-7 hours of hiking per day. The longer days may even require 8-9 hours of hike. Starting from (1,905 m) Jiri this trek takes you to a maximum elevation of (5,364m). 

This trek route is 115 miles from Jiri to Everest Base Camp and requires adequate physical and mental preparation for a successful trek journey.

This trek is not an easy journey however, there is always a workaround. Beginners may get ready for this hike by adding these practices to their daily routine: Walking in the dusk and at dawn, Meditation, and Yoga, Remaining hydrated, Nutritional diets, Jogging, Going to the gym, and so on.

Today, we will embark on a drive from Kathmandu to Shivalaya, located at an elevation of 1770m. We will trek from Shivalaya to Kinja, covering a distance of approximately 6-7 hours. The trail initially involves a steep climb, leading us to the scenic Deurali.
